Marie Bergan, 83, Grand Forks, formerly Mayville, N.D., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in Grand Forks.

Loretta Marie Morrison was born Aug. 29, 1916, in Beresford, S.D. She grew up in Beresford and Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead State University. She taught art and elementary education in Sharon, N.D., Boyne City, Mich., and in Mayville where she retired after 20 years with the Mayville-Portland (N.D.) School District. On March 20, 1941, she married Blair Bergan. They moved to Mayville in 1951 where they owned and operated Bergan's Men's Wear. He died in 1996. She moved to Grand Forks in July of this year.

She is survived by a son, Greg (Ava), Alpharetta, Ga.; two daughters, Gail (Mike) Costello, Danville, Calif., Peggy (Jim) Schaeffer, Grand Forks; a sister, Dorothy Anne McGuire, Hemet, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation: Tonight from 5 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in Baker Funeral Home, Mayville.

Funeral: Saturday at 2 in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville.

Burial: Mayville Cemetery.
