Gilbert Perkins is my 5th great grandfather. He was one of the early settlers of Lebanon, Maine. On 20 July 1775 he enlisted in Captain Philip Hubbard's Company of Colonel James Scammon's Regiment of the Continental Army.

Gilbert re-enlisted from Lebanon on 3 September 1776 as a Private in Captain John Brewster's Company of Colonel Pierce Long's Regiment, stationed at New Castle, New Hampshire; and was mustered and paid by Otis Baker. He remained in Long's Regiment until 7 January 1777.

Gilbert was married at Rochester, New Hampshire on 20 August 1749, to Charity, daughter of Stephen and Susannah (Wentworth) Hartford. He was the first settler on the farm in the westerly part of Lebanon, now (1896) owned and occupied by the heirs of Lewis Ricker. He removed from town eastward. His son, Richard, also served in the Revolutionary War.
